Following a long career as a photography lecturer I now work as a freelance nature photographer, author and workshop provider. I specialise in all aspects of plant and animal life, and also scientific subjects such as high speed, time lapse, ultraviolet and infrared photography. I have written several photography books, the most recent being Digital Ultraviolet and Infrared Photography, published in October 2017. This is the first book to cover these topics in the digital age.

Biography

I have taught photography at all levels during my career, both in various colleges, and also numerous workshops for organisations such as Kodak, the Royal Horticultural Society, The Field Studies Council and the Surrey Wildlife Trust.
I am particularly interested in environmental issues, and use my photography to highlight the various problems facing the world.

Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

    I am currently researching various techniques for visualising insect vision, using ultraviolet and multi-spectral techniques.
    I specialise in close-up and macro photography, high speed, time lapse and UV and IR photography, but have covered most techniques throughout my career.

Personal Interests

    I spend a lot of time in the countryside, walking, nature watching and photographing.
    I am a great music fan particularly blues and folk
