Rute Gonçalves has a Phd in Management and Business Studies (University of Porto, 2016), where she taught several courses in accounting (Faculty of Economics and recently Porto Business School). She worked as an auditor at RSM Portugal (1999-2001). Since 2001 she has been working at RAR Group, holding nowadays a position of accounting supervisor. Since Phd attendance she has been a regular speaker at conferences on the theme of the adoption of the IAS/IFRS.

Biography

Rute Daniela das Neves Lopes da Silva Gonçalves was born on 19th March 1977 in Gondomar, Portugal, where she presently lives.
Academically, she obtained a degree in Economics graduating from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto in 1999. In order to further develop her knowledge in the field of Accounting she also achieved a Master degree in Accounting at the same institution in 2004.
Professionally, she worked as an auditor in Moreira, Valente & Associados, S.A (RSM) between 1999 and 2001. Since 2001, she has been working at Centrar – Centro de Serviços de Gestão, S.A. (RAR Group) at the accounting department. Nowadays she holds a position of supervisor, where she is assigned tasks and responsibilities related with closing accounts under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), complying with tax obligations and monitoring external audits. Between 2006 and 2016 she taught courses in accounting and management at Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto. Recently she was admitted for teaching another course in accounting in Porto Business School.
Rute is a member of two research associations, namely, European Accounting Association (EAA) and Portuguese Network of Accounting Research (GRUDIS).
During the research process, she has participated and presented communications in several seminars, organised by entities like EAA, GRUDIS, European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM) and Spanish Association of Accounting and Business (AECA). Recently, she published a research paper in Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation.
