BiographyI’m currently employed as a senior lecturer at the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Trinidad and Tobago, where I’ve been teaching biochemistry to students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences for the past seven years. I’m engaged in research aimed at diagnosing cancer type using gene mutation and gene expression data, and also on the identification of cancer driver genes using protein interaction networks and gene expression data, the aim of which is to provide new targets for drug development. Prior to UWI, I worked for nine years at the European Bioinformatics Institute, UK as part of the Protein Databank Group. I obtained a BSc and a PhD in biochemistry from the University of London. I am presently the chairman of the Caribbean Cancer Research Initiative (CCRI), a not-for- profit organization dedicated to improving cancer patient outcomes and preventing more cancers in the Caribbean population through research-based interventions.
