Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

My main areas of research focus around media and journalism today. My first book, "Bad News From Venezuela" used the Glasgow Media Group's thematic analysis technique to cover the topic of fake news in the press with regards to the reporting of Venezuela.

My upcoming book, scheduled for late 2018, called "Still Manufacturing Consent: the Propaganda Model in the Information Age", which collaborates with a number of academics, including Noam Chomsky, attempts to modernize and redefine Herman and Chomsky's propaganda model for the new media era we are in.

I am interested in many aspects of modern social media too. I am also researching men's rights activism and its links to far-right political groups online and, in general, the radicalization of young people online.

Personal Interests

I am an avid cyclist, runner and adventurer. I enjoy trekking, camping, climbing and outdoor activities in general.
