My philosophical interests are in ethics, free will, philosophy of religion, and the philosophical implications of evolutionary biology. I have published three books: Commonsense Darwinism: Evolution, Morality, and the Human Condition (Open Court, 2008); Freedom, Responsibility, and Determinism: A Philosophical Dialogue (Hackett, 2013); and A Pragmatic Approach to Libertarian Free Will (Routledge, 2018). I have also published over 30 articles in a variety of journals.

Biography

I received my Ph.D. in philosophy from Duke University and I have been teaching at Coe College for about 25 years.  My philosophical interests are in ethics, free will, philosophy of religion, and the philosophical implications of evolutionary biology.  I have published three books: Commonsense Darwinism: Evolution, Morality, and the Human Condition (Open Court, 2008); Freedom, Responsibility and Determinism: A Philosophical Dialogue (Hackett, 2013); and A Pragmatic Approach to Libertarian Free Will (Routledge, 2018).  I have also published over 30 articles in a variety of academic journals, such as Metaphilosophy, The Southern Journal of Philosophy, Dialectica, Philosophia, and the The Philosophy of the Social Sciences.  To learn more about my publications, see my page on PhilPapers: https://philpapers.org/s/John%20Lemos
