Dr. Tara Concannon-Gibney is an assistant professor of literacy at Dublin City University (D.C.U.). A former primary school teacher, she has worked with pre-service and in-service teachers in Ireland and in New York for over a decade. Prior to working at DCU, she was a lecturer in literacy/Early Childhood and programme co-ordinator of the B.Sc. in Early Childhood at Marino Institute of Education. She also worked in Adelphi University, New York for a number of years were she lectured in literacy at postgraduate level. She has presented widely in both national and international contexts and has numerous publications related to literacy and professional development. She is a past-president of the Literacy Association of Ireland.
