Nigel Iyer - Fraud Detective. Had over 25 years’ experience detecting and investigating fraud, and a passion for discovering it and resolving with as little fuss as possible. A computer scientist and a qualified chartered accountant, Nigel is also a recognized dramatist and author with a number of educational films and plays about fraud and corruption to his name. Nigel teaches on widely and is a fellow of CIMA and the University of Leicester, School of Business.

Biography

Nigel Iyer has over 25 years' experience in detecting and preventing fraud and is a founder of the Hibis Fraud Academy. A computer scientist and a qualified chartered accountant, Nigel has been investigation and detecting fraud all his working life, and believes that everybody can and should be a Fraud Detective.  He is also a recognized dramatist and has written a number of educational films and plays based on his experiences, many of which are used in teaching worldwide. Nigel is the author of several books, including Fraud and Corruption: Prevention and Detection, The Tightrope (2007) and A Short Guide to Fraud Risk (2010). Nigel lectures on fraud and corruption and is a fellow of CIMA and the University of Leicester, School of Management.

Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

    Nigel qualified as a UK Chartered Accountant in 1989 and decided already then that specializing in finding fraud and corruption early and dealing with it promptly was where my passion lay.  After working for a multinational company, where he specialized in investigating and detecting fraud, he then went on the work for London's most prominent Fraud Investigation Bureau at the time "Network Security Management Ltd" which was founded by maverick investigator Michael J Comer.  Taking a leaf out of Mike´s book he founded Hibis and the Fraud Academy, and has since combined investigation, early detection and teaching everyone who has a similar passion how to find and deal with fraud and corruption early.  His belief:  "Everybody can be a Fraud Detective".  There is too much fraud in the world and we all need to fix it!

Personal Interests

    Teaching, writing dramas, playing piano and flute and cooking (as well as fraud investigation!)
