Tobie S. Stein, Ph.D. is the author of Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Performing Arts Workforce (Routledge 2019). A two-time Fulbright Specialist (Israel and Taiwan), she is also a member of the Diversity Scholars Network at the National Center for Institutional Diversity, University of Michigan, and a member of the American Sociological Association. She is Professor Emerita at Brooklyn College, The City University of New York.

Biography

Tobie S. Stein, Ph.D. is the author of Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Performing Arts Workforce (Routledge 2019). A two-time Fulbright Specialist (Israel and Taiwan), she is also a member of the Diversity Scholars Network at the National Center for Institutional Diversity, University of Michigan, and a member of the American Sociological Association. She is Professor Emerita at Brooklyn College, The City University of New York.

Her articles/podcast, focusing on executive coaching, workforce development, career transition, and diversity have appeared on the Foundation Center Philanthropy Chat Web site, in the Journal of Arts Management, Law and Society, National Business Employment Weekly, New York Newsday, and The Wall Street Journal. Her work has been profiled/reviewed in TD &T, American Theatre, DramaBiz, Variety, Boston Globe, Boston Herald, and Boston’s Playbill. Her international work in performing arts and nonprofit management has been recognized in China, France, Israel, Mexico, and Taiwan. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology, focusing on career and workforce development from The CUNY Graduate Center.
