Tim B Thornton
Dr Tim B. Thornton is a Researcher with the Economics in Context Initiative which is part of Boston University’s Global Development Policy Centre, and Director of the School of Political Economy in Melbourne. Much of Tim’s recent research has been on pluralism and interdisciplinarity in economics, including his recent book From Economics to Political Economy: the promise, problems and solutions of pluralist economics.

Biography
Tim is employed as a Senior Researcher Fellow at the Economics in Context Initiative at Boston University and is also Director of the School of Political Economy in Melbourne. Previous to this he was employed as a Researcher the Global Development and Environment Institute at Tufts University. Between 2016 and 2018, Tim was Director of the Politics, Philosophy and Economics Degree at La Trobe and Director of the Master of International Development at La Trobe (2014-2016). He lectured in economics, political economy and economic history at both La Trobe University (2007 to 2013) and Monash University (2002-2007). Much of Tim’s recent research has been on pluralism and interdisciplinarity, including his recent book From Economics to Political Economy: the promise, problems and solutions of pluralist economics . He is currently co-writing the textbook Essentials of Economics in Context (Routledge 2020) and co-editing the Handbook of Alternative Theories of Political Economy (Edward Elgar 2020).
