Neelam Dwivedi

Assistant Teaching Professor
Carnegie Mellon University

I am an educator in the field of information sciences and deeply interested in the way higher education sector has adopted technology in teaching and learning. My perspective on technology-mediated education focuses on how we need to assimilate technology into the traditional teaching practice without compromising education's academic values and principles. We need to first understand how we teach and then design technology to suit its needs rather than the other way around.

I am an Assistant Teaching Professor at Heinz College, Carnegie Mellon University where I teach graduate students enrolled in Master in Information System (MISM) program. Prior to this, I was an Instructor at Penn State University in College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) since Jan 2011. Before moving into academics, I worked as an IT Professional for over twenty years as a software developer, project/program manager, entrepreneur, consultant, and a teacher.

Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

My current research interests focus on the impact of online education on teaching practices in the field of higher-education. I extensively use technology in my own teaching to increase student engagement in my classes. I have published several courses on LinkedInLearning platform, which represents one of the emerging ways education is being shaped in this digital world.
