Professor and Permanent Fellow
Max Weber Centre for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies, Erfurt University

Economist and sinologist by education, I am a transdisciplinary researcher in the human sciences. I approach economics as a bridge between the sciences and the humanities. Specifically, I work on the philosophy of economics, ecological, evolutionary and institutional economics, and Chinas studies. In the recent decade, I published a series of books in these areas, mostly with Routledge.

Carsten Herrmann-Pillath (*1959) is Professor and Permanent Fellow at the Max Weber Centre for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies, University of Erfurt, Germany and Distinguished Visiting Professor at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University, China. As a visiting professor, he taught at University of Vienna, University of Bonn, Hochschule St. Gallen, University of Tübingen, Tsinghua University Schwarzman College, and many others.
