Richard Hooper
Richard Hooper was a founder of the Open University on the BBC side, developed with colleagues at British Telecom the forerunner to the internet – viewdata, and launched one of the first satellite television channels – Superchannel. He was founding deputy chair of the UK communications regulator Ofcom; chair of Informa plc; and he chaired two reviews for Labour and Conservative Governments on the Royal Mail and on copyright licensing.
Biography
Richard Hooper has devoted his career to the converging worlds of media, telecommunications and technology (TMT). He is married to the Australian writer, historian and Antarctic specialist Meredith Hooper. After a career in management (BBC, British Telecom) he went plural and developed a portfolio career, acting as adviser, consultant and Board director. He has been chairing meetings for sixty years since a student at university - large and small corporate Boards, regulators, Government reviews, parents' associations etc.Education
