Dr Charlie Mansfield has been a university lecturer since 1995 and taught travel writing at the University of Plymouth in Tourism Management, where he was also co-director of the heritage research centre. He completed a major, funded research project for the CNRS with the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in digital heritage management and was a research academic with the University of Edinburgh.

Biography

Dr Charlie Mansfield works with research teams in cultural tourism development. He has just completed an EU Interreg project on ethnobotany on the Adriatic coast. He specialises in implementing methodologies for researchers to achieve direct public impact using narrative techniques. For DMOs, he equips professionals with writing and knowledge management methods to create place value in city branding. He has previously completed a CNRS-funded project on heritage management and big data for the University of Paris 1, Pantheon-Sorbonne. His current research, using literary travel narratives, is in experience co-creation for the blue economy with a focus on the Channel ports of Normandy. He presented this research in May in the ESO Lab for the University of Caen. Dr Charlie Mansfield is a member of the Scientific Council of Research for Literature & Tourism at Lisbon University School of Management and the University of the Algarve.
