Hooshang Nikjoo is Professor of Radiation Biophysics at the Department of Oncology-Pathology, Karolinska Institutet since 2008. He obtained his B.Sc (hon) Physics and Ph.D in radiation physics at The Polytechnic of South Bank, London. Previously, he worked at MRC Radiobiology Unit, Harwell, Oxfordshire, UK (1985-2004), and NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston Texas (2004-2008).

Areas of Research / Professional Expertise

    Physics of radiation track; Monte Carlo track structure simulation of electrons,ions, and neutrons; DNA damage and repair in mammalian cells, physical, biological, and mecical aspects of Auger electron emiters; radioprobing of novel DNA structures such as triple helices and telomere; estimation of risk (genetics and cancer)of exposure to ionising radiation in human using a genome-based framework
