Naser A. Anjum

Biography

Naser A. Anjum is a post-doctoral researcher at CESAM-Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies and Department of Chemistry, University of Aveiro, Portugal, and has made significant contributions to the physiology and biochemistry of crops and salt marsh macrophytes adaptation/tolerance to varied abiotic stress factors including metals-metalloids, nanoparticles and salinity/drought stress. Over the years, Dr. Anjum has worked out sulfur, nitrogen and potassium nutrition-mediated improvements in the plant ascorbate-glutathione pathway (AsA-GSH)components, assessed salt marsh macrophytes mercury-remediation potential and
underlying physiological/biochemical mechanisms, and has also developed an innovative plants-based approach for the identification/characterization and risk assessment of chemical pollutants. Considering an integrated multiple biomarkers approach, Dr. Anjum’s current research involves the development of standard
toxicological models and testing methods to completely assess nanoparticles potential impacts on floral and environmental health. A life of member of Indian Society for Plant Physiology (ISPP) and National Environmental Science Academy (NESA), New Delhi, India, Dr. Anjum is also annual member of reputed scientific societies
including The Mediterranean Scientific Association of Environmental Protection (MESAEP), Germany and Portuguese Botanical Society (PBS), Lisbon, Portugal. Dr. Anjum is on the list of editorial boards of reputed journals including Plant Stress (Global Science Books, Japan). Dr. Anjum has been honoured for his significant contributions with the UGC-Dr. DS Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellow (2009), CSIR-Research Associateship (2008–2009) and selected for The World’s Foremost Achievers in a Field (2009), Marquis Who’s Who in the World (The 2009 Edition).
