I am chair of the statistics department at UCLA. Originally from LA, I went to Brown University for my undergrad degree in math, and then Berkeley for my PhD in Statistics. My advisor was David Brillinger. In 1999 I married my wife Jean, who teaches English at Santa Monica College, and we have 4 year old twins. My grandfather was the 12-tone music composer Arnold Schoenberg.
