Biography
Lawrence Charles Parish, M.D., M.D.,Hon.), a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences, received his M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine. Following an internship at the Philadelphia General Hospital, he took his dermatology training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania under Drs. Donald Pillsbury and Walter Shelley. Currently, he is Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Biology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he is also Director of the Jefferson Center for International Dermatology. He holds visiting professorships at Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana; Yonsei University College of Medicine, Seoul, Korea; and Zagazig University Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig, Egypt.Doctor Parish is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Dermatological Association. He is an honorary or corresponding member of the Austrian, British, Bulgarian, French, Israeli, Italian, and Venezuelan dermatology societies. He is the President of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology and the History of Dermatology Society. Doctor Parish has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Medicine degree by the Sofia (Bulgaria) Medical Faculty
He currently edits Clinics in Dermatology and SKINmed, is the author of over 400 publications, and has written or contributed to more than 50 books. His interests range from wound healing and decubitus ulcers to cutaneous infections and tropical dermatology, in addition to the various aspects of cosmetic dermatology and the history of dermatology.
