I explore law through an anthropological lens, investigating how rights and duties are envisioned, formulated, and implemented within different societies. My research delves into how social groups construct rights and the pivotal role of culture in this process. I have conducted extensive fieldwork in India, examining state and non-state jurisdictions, and in Pakistan, focusing on aspects of Islamic law. Currently, my work centers on expert witnessing and cultural expertise.
