Gay Young has a longstanding focus on gender and development. A grant from the National Science Foundation supported her research on women’s labor force participation in Juárez, Mexico, the basis for her book, Gendering Globalization on the Ground. Another NSF grant advanced her work on critical use of international statistics on women/gender in transnational context. A Fulbright Research Grant allowed her to study Israeli feminist actions which are challenging militarism in Israeli society.
