Marsha Linehan wins Grawemeyer Award for Psychology
Marsha M. Linehan, the developer of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), has won the 2017 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award for Psychology. This prestigious award is given for original and creative ideas--ideas that possess clarity and power, and that have a substantial impact on the field of psychology. Dr. Linehan's award-winning idea, DBT, was the first psychotherapy shown in controlled trials to be effective with borderline personality disorder, and has since been adapted and tested for a wide range of other difficult-to-treat disorders involving emotion dysregulation. Dr. Linehan is Professor of Psychology and of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Director of the Behavioral Research and Therapy Clinics at the University of Washington.
