Biography
Professor Dr. Ion Romulus Scorei is a senior researcher and educator in the fields of inorganic chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, and systems biology, with over four decades of scientific and academic contributions. He currently serves as Professor at the University of Craiova and Director of the Bioboron Research Institute in Romania, a center of excellence dedicated to the study of boron’s biological and biochemical functions. His research career has been defined by pioneering investigations into the biochemistry of boron, particularly its role as a functional micronutrient, a prebiotic stabilizer, and a modulator of microbial symbiosis. He is internationally recognized for introducing and elaborating the novel scientific concepts of microbiota-accessible boron (MAB) and plasma-accessible borates (PAB). Professor Scorei has authored or co-authored over 100 scientific publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, patents, and monographs.
