Biography

Bruce M. Mackh is the Associate Vice-President of Teaching and Learning at Chadron State College in Chadron, USA. He is the author of Higher Education by Design: Best Practices for Curricular Planning and Instruction (Routledge, 2018).

"Pivoting Your Instruction bridges a gap between faculty who have vast knowledge in their field of study but little or no knowledge of how to be student-centered in their teaching approach. Principles and concepts such as the benefits of a hyflex approach in teaching, instructional models that incorporate high-impact practices, and building a culture of compassion while keeping course quality are timely following the 2020 pandemic. This book should be mandatory for those preparing for university teaching in their PhD programs, new faculty, and experienced faculty who are ready to step into online course development and teaching."
Cari Mathwig Ramseier, Director of Instructional Support Services, Viterbo University, USA

"Pivoting Your Instruction is Bruce Mackh’s latest book that shares promising practices to close the gap between traditional approaches and the remote teaching necessitated by the global pandemic. Rather than a new normal, Mackh provides the opportunities we now have to create a next normal by embracing what emerged during a global health emergency. By drawing upon design innovation, he provides effective approaches that advance learning. I highly recommend this book to any faculty member who wants to pivot with intention—and boost learning by taking their teaching to the next level."
