"One of the biggest challenges with safeguarding training is covering all of the bases and acknowledging the many complexities involved, whilst keeping the key points simple and making staff feel empowered rather than intimidated. This book meets that challenge admirably. The important references are all here, but it's the core messages and practical tips that will really help people put safeguarding into action. Safeguarding in schools isn't just something we need to avoid getting wrong; it's one of the most important ways that we can make a difference. For ECTs especially, this book provides an excellent foundation for that journey." - Seth James, theDSLblog
"This book is a useful, thorough guide to safeguarding in schools for those new to teaching or those looking to further their knowledge of safeguarding in preparation for taking on pastoral responsibilities. Questions on Safeguarding offers a walk-through of all of the main safeguarding in education topics to extend knowledge after in-school training, with handy checklists to support in thinking more deeply about a range of issues and how they interact with the ECT role. The expert contributors bring unique perspectives to each section and provide guidance that will be invaluable in keeping children safe throughout a teacher’s career." - Elizabeth Rose, Director, So Safeguarding
"I wish I had had this book as an ECT. Safeguarding is a fundamental part of our daily interactions with pupils but the concept of safeguarding can seem overwhelming and daunting. This book draws on the expertise of leaders in different fields to explain our role and our responsibilities in a straightforward and accessible way. Having this book to hand will make a positive difference to the lives of your pupils." - Sarah Watkins, University Lecturer and Ex-Headteacher
"As an early careers teacher, Questions on Safeguarding has been eye-opening in helping me further understand the nuances of safeguarding. The vast range of expert advice from industry professionals breaks down the broader topic into easily digestible chunks that act as an extensive, essential resource to accompany safeguarding training.
Questions on Safeguarding teaches that safeguarding is a collaborative effort from all, ranging from ECTs to DSLs and beyond. It has acted - and will continue to act - as a vital resource throughout my entire career as a professional within education." - Gideon Farrer, Early Career Teacher
