Biography

Frances Dickens taught in Lambeth for over 18 years, specialising in art, drama, English as a Second Language and Special Educational Needs. During her time in teaching she had the idea for The Story Maker, a book designed to motivate young children to use their imaginations and write stories. Tried and tested in the classroom, she went onto create The Story Maker Motivator for secondary school students. She is the author of several fiction books for children, including The Giant from Nowhere created from her drama work with primary school children.

Kirstin Lewis is an experienced classroom teacher and literary consultant who specialises in working with EAL children from pre-school age to 11 years.

"The book has just the right approach to encourage children, and the ideas will be useful for parents working at home with their children, as well as within schools; the book is also suitable for older children to use independently (and includes a separate introduction for them), making it even more versatile. A really excellent and practical book, brimful with ideas."— Parents in Touch
