Biography

Hanna Zagefka is Dean of the Faculty of Science at Royal Holloway, University of London, and former Head of its outstanding Department of Psychology with its vibrant PhD community. With over 20 years of experience supervising students from a wide range of backgrounds – including first-generation, women, ethnic minority, LGBTQ+, and international students from Africa, Asia, and the Americas – she brings rare, first-hand insight into PhD life. A social psychologist specialising in identity, discrimination, and human relationships, Prof. Zagefka combines academic leadership, supervisory experience, and psychological expertise to offer practical, empowering advice that enables students to thrive in their PhD journey.
