Biography

Rui Pedro Gonçalves Pereira, academic trained as a Biologist,
avid for the applied side of research (but with total respect for
fundamental science). Completed his PhD in 2004, working on
the life-cycle of North Atlantic Porphyra, seeking its application in
Europe. After a typical research career, in 2012 moved to the
business world and co-founded an IMTA land-based seaweed
aquaculture company, then the first in Europe. Since 2020 he is
the Head of Seaweed Division of A4F, a Portuguese company
at the forefront of algae biotechnology.
