Biography
Ben Kilby is a Senior Lecturer in Pedagogy at the University of New England in Australia. His research centres around philosophy, dialogue, and gender.
“Feminism was the first branch of critical theory applied to philosophy for children theory and practice. Kilby’s study builds that road further by walking it. His pedagogical model shows how and why classroom dialogue can only be as meaningful as it is inclusive.”
Maughn Rollins Gregory, Professor of Philosophy of Education, Director, Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children, Montclair State University
"Critical Collaborative Dialogue in Classrooms is a book for anyone wanting to make classroom discussion more inclusive and productive. From an examination of both theory and practice, Kilby develops a model of discussion that will fill the bill."
Philip Cam, School of Humanities and Languages, UNSW
“A timely and compelling contribution, this book reimagines classroom discussion through feminist philosophy and empirical insight. By challenging gender dualisms and privileging diverse ways of thinking, Critical Collaborative Dialogue offers educators a practical, research-informed framework for more meaningful, inclusive, and intellectually rigorous dialogue in today’s classrooms across educational contexts globally.”
Prof. Arie Kizel (PhD), University of Haifa
