Biography

Ali Talha Khalil, a native of Peshawar (Pakistan), is working as Assistant Professor and consultant molecular biologist at the Lady Reading Hospital Medical Teaching Institution (LRH-MTI), Peshawar, which is one of the largest tertiary care hospitals in the region. Besides his major responsibilities, Dr. Khalil is in-charge of the COVID-19 diagnostic facility at LRH. He serves as a secretary and member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Research Committee (IRC) of LRH that are mandated for reviewing the ethical, technical and financial aspects of research work conducted at the Institute. Dr. Khalil’s major expertise and research interests are in molecular biology and materials sciences. He is using eco-friendly and sustainable avenues for the synthesis of novel nanomaterials and nanocomposites and uses them for different nanomedicine and environmental applications.

Dr. Arshad Islam is currently working as Assistant Professor and Consultant of Biochemistry, at the Department of Pathology, Government Lady Reading Hospital Medical Teaching Institution, Peshawar, Pakistan. Dr. Islam has earned his PhD degree in Biological Chemistry/Inorganic Biochemistry from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil (2014), and Master of Philosophy in Biochemistry/ Molecular from Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, Pakistan (2009). During his PhD and postdoctoral research, he has been working, in general, with "the development of metal-based organometallic and nanoscale drugs and drug delivery systems, and their mechanism of action" for the purpose of improved drug’s potency and efficacy, aiming at the treatment of parasitic diseases such as leishmaniasis and Chagas disease as well as bacterial infections and cancer, exploring both the in vitro and in vivo model of the diseases.
